  • Japan Supports IOM Community, Socio-Economic, Labour Market Survey in Darfur

    On 6th of Feb 2015 IOM signed an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to conduct a Community, Socio-Economic and Labour Market Survey in Darfur.

  • IOM Conducts Waste Management Campaigns for 740,000 Displaced in Sudan

    Last August 2014 IOM, in partnership with UNICEF and WHO, has provided and maintained basic Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) lifesaving services for displaced people affected by the recent heavy rains and flash floods in the most vulnerable states across Sudan.

  • IOM Backs Sudan Malaria Prevention Campaign

    IOM, as part of the Sudan’s National Flood Taskforce, which coordinates emergency response operations throughout the country, has been asked by the country’s Federal Ministry of Health to contribute to the country’s malaria prevention programme ahead of the upcoming wet season.

  • Refugees in Sudan resettled in Canada

    On the 10th and 11th of December 2013, IOM Sudan arranged for the safe departure of 60 Eritrean refugees to be resettled to Canada from Sudan. IOM Staff from Sudan escorted the refugees to Calgary and Toronto. 

    The Government of Canada is the first in the top five resettlement countries accepting refugees from Sudan. A total of 711 refugees have been assisted for resettlement from Sudan to Canada in 2013.
