  • Promoting Social Cohesion and Peace through Theater in East and South Darfur

    IOM Sudan as part of the Cross Border Peace and Cooperation (CBPC) Project funded by the European Union conducted six mobile theatrical drama performances in six localities in South and East Darfur complementing other sustainable interventions implemented ranging from provision of basic infrastructure, livelihoods assistance to capacity building of state and local authorities in conflict prevention . These plays aim to contribute to the development of the region through spreading awareness on community stabilization and peaceful coexistence amongst communities in South and East Darfur States, in areas at the border with South Sudan.

  • IOM Organizes a two day workshop with the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking to develop the Sudan National Action Plan

    With the technical assistance of IOM Sudan, the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCT) held a two day workshop on the elaboration of  the 2017-2019 National Action Plan (NAP)  to combat human trafficking in Sudan.  Established further to the enactment of the 2014 Anti-trafficking Act, the NCCT initiated this process to design strategic and operational reference frameworks to effectively address trafficking in persons in Sudan.

  • 30 Legal Practitioners Attend a Workshop on Legal and Policy Frameworks to Combat Human Trafficking and Smuggling in East Sudan

    IOM Sudan in collaboration with the Sudanese Bar Association delivered a two-day workshop on 14th and 15th April  2017 in Kassala State, East Sudan. Dr. Abdelsalam Babiker, Associate Professor of  Public International Law, Head of the International and Comparative Law Department at the University of Khartoum facilitated the workshop engaging 30 legal practitioners in a thorough contextual and technical discussion on the legal and policy frameworks to combat human trafficking and smuggling of migrants in Sudan. 

  • IOM Completes its Seventh Basic Level Document Security Training for Sudanese Immigration Officers

    26 officers from the Sudanese immigration department, Khartoum International Airport, Gedaref Land Border Crossing Point and National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) completed 5 days of basic level training on document security, identification and forgery delivered by Document Security and ID Expert Mr. Alex Van Duuren from the Netherlands.

    IOM Sudan in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports completed the first National Conference on Youth Migration. The conference took place from 13 – 14 March 2017, attended by 150 participants from the 18 states. The opening ceremony attended by the State Ministry of the Ministry of Youth and Sports who emphasized on the importance of the conference in engaging youth in Sudan and from the diaspora.
