• Empowering gum arabic local producers in Darfur

    IOM Sudan in collaboration with the agricultural private sector Fair Factory for Manufacturing and Packing Organic Gum Arabic (FOGA) has conducted a comprehensive five-day Gum Arabic Workshop in East Darfur under the Cross Border Peace and Cooperation Project (CBPC) funded by the European Union (17th to 21st July). The workshop focused on empowering more than 60 small-scale producers of the popular cash crop “Acacia Gum”, as well as representatives of farmer associations and unions from four gum producing localities in East Darfur State.

  • IOM Sudan and UNAMID Conduct a Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Workshop in East Darfur

    Over 70 participants from East Darfur state and local authorities, civil society, women’s unions, rural courts and community police engaged in a conflict prevention workshop from the 12th-16th July. The workshop was part of the Cross Border Peace and Cooperation (CBPC) Project funded by the European Union. Facilitators from the African Union - United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) conducted sessions on Conflict Prevention, Peace Building, Rule of Law and Gender Analysis with segments presented by IOM on Cross Border Management. 

  • Sudan Ministry of Interior in partnership with IOM Sudan address the modernization of Sudan VISA system in a brainstorming session

    Over 40 participants from the Ministry of Interior, the National Intelligence and Security Services, the Ministry of Investment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism attended a brainstorming session focused on Online Visa Application (OVA) Systems at the Police Club. Funded under the IOM Development Fund (IDF) project “Providing Technical Support to Improve Border and Migration Management in Sudan”, this initiative meant to promote the discussion among relevant authorities on the rationalization and modernization of Sudan’s Visa system as one of the key border management challenges.

  • IOM Visits East Sudan for a Multi-Sector Assessment Mission

    IOM Sudan conducted a Multi Sector Assessment Mission to East Sudan on 13-15th June 2017. The Mission came after IOM’s recent renewed 2 year Protocol of Cooperation signature with Sudan’s Federal Humanitarian Aid Commission and in response to an invitation from the General Secretariat of the Government of Kassala State. The mission met relevant authorities at the General Secretariat of the Government of Kassala State including the Humanitarian Aid Commission as well as other partners for the implementation of ongoing projects and the identification of new projects aimed at assisting State authorities in better managing migration-related challenges.

  • Promoting Social Cohesion and Peace through Theater in East and South Darfur

    IOM Sudan as part of the Cross Border Peace and Cooperation (CBPC) Project funded by the European Union conducted six mobile theatrical drama performances in six localities in South and East Darfur complementing other sustainable interventions implemented ranging from provision of basic infrastructure, livelihoods assistance to capacity building of state and local authorities in conflict prevention . These plays aim to contribute to the development of the region through spreading awareness on community stabilization and peaceful coexistence amongst communities in South and East Darfur States, in areas at the border with South Sudan.
