IOM works in partnership with governments, the United Nations, international and non-governmental organizations, the private sector and development partners on all aspects of counter-trafficking responses – prevention, protection, and prosecution. IOM takes a comprehensive approach to addressing human trafficking. Respect for human rights, the physical, mental and social well-being of the individual and his or her community, and the sustainability of our actions through institutional capacity development and partnerships are at the centre of all of IOM’s counter-trafficking efforts.

IOM Sudan continues to assist trafficked and smuggled migrants in need and host communities affected by high mobility within the corridors of complex migration routes in Western and Eastern Sudan, as well as in Khartoum. Counter-trafficking programming aims at addressing the immediate and humanitarian needs of vulnerable and irregular migrants enabling them to uphold their dignity, human rights, and make informed choices on migration.  Protection support to migrant victims of multiple abuses are assured, and unaccompanied children are given specialized protection in line with international and IOM standards for care and counseling.

IOM's support to Victims of Trafficking (VoTs) is channeled through the Migrant Resource and Response Centres in Khartoum, Gedaref, and Kassala states.
