Emergency Assistance to IDPs Affected by Conflict in Kulbus locality, West Darfur
Thousands of families have been displaced and many have lost their homes as a result of conflict in West Darfur’s Kulbus locality between 6-11 June.
According to the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), an estimated 28, 873 people have been displaced by the conflict in Kulbus as of 29 June.
In response to the urgent needs of the people affected by the conflict in West Darfur, which has experienced several serious bouts of violence since 2021, IOM in coordination with humanitarian partners have distributed 500 non-food item (NFI) kits to vulnerable households in Adawi village in Kulbus locality.
Each kit is composed of two plastic sheets, two jerry cans, three blankets, three sleeping mats, and one kitchen set.
Following the conflict, humanitarian partners carried out an inter-agency assessment to Juruf and Kafani villages in Sirba locality and Werywery and Adawi villages in Kulbus locality where people have taken refuge.
IOM, together with other United Nations and humanitarian partners on the ground, will continue to work to provide the displaced communities with emergency shelter, food, water, sanitation and hygiene, health and non-food items to respond to the urgent needs of those communities affected.
