IOM Completes Basic Level Document Security Training for Khartoum International Airport Immigration officers

On February 16th 2017, 20 officers from the Sudanese immigration department completed an introductory level 5 day course on: document security, identification and forgery, Sudanese legal framework, essentials of migration management in Sudan and European Union best practices on tackling irregular migration and cross border crimes.

The training was intended to;

Enhance the capacity of the immigration officers in identifying forged and fraudulent travel and other documents,

Increase the response level of immigration officers on document security instruction and examination,

Familiarize immigration officers with essentials of migration management, the Sudanese legal framework related to migration and the regional and global perspective of the migration phenomena

Share best practices and most recent cases from Rome Fiumicino from International Airport (Italy) on preventing irregular entries,

    The course was the sixth of a series of trainings on Border Management rolled out under the Project: “Enhancing Government of Sudan’s technical capacity on migration management” with financial support of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation The course was delivered by Document Security and ID Expert Mr. Alex Van Duuren from the Netherlands, Mrs. Giada Crivella from the Italian Border Police Office at Fiumicino Airport (Rome) and Professor Ahmed Mukhtar Gamal Eldin from the Ahfad University for Women.
